Structure of Association

IOA Members
The control of the Association is vested in its members. This control is exercised by resolution at general meetings of the Association. 
 

Executive Officers of the IOA

President

The President of the IOA holds office for four years from end of one international IOA Congress to the end of the next. 

Secretary

The Secretary of the IOA is appointed by the Council of Management and is entitled to attend Council, General Meetings, Committees and Networks of so directed, but is not entitled to vote by virtue of the office, unless she/he is a representative ot their National Association. The Secretary of the IOA is a honorary member of the IOA. 

Treasurer

The Treasurer of the IOA is appointed by the Council of Management and keeps accurate records of receipts and disbursements, maintains accounts on Associations behalfs, collects all monies paid to the Association (subsriptions, dues, levies), chairs the Finance Committee and reports to the Council of Management on Assciation Finances. The Treasurer of the IOA is a honorary member of the IOA.  

General meetings

  • Annual General Meetings (AGM) held in each calendar year
  • Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM) additional general meeting during the year that is not the AGM.

Voting

All members are eligible to attend and vote at any general meeting except ophthalmologists.

IOA Business

Between general meetings, the business of the Association shall be managed by the IOA Council of Management.
